my game is screwed! please help!

I've install some units, so to test they work i made them need no techs and no resources. When i try to build one the quick way (right click, choose build orders, then click on the unit) its fine, but the moment i zoom into the city (info about the city) screen it crashes! Its actualy an illegal error message (this'll probubly be usless and pointless but here it is!)

If i zoom into the city, click on the build orders, select the unit it crashes the moment i click on it! With a guess what? An illegal error!

My guess is its somthing to do with icons, but Zulu says its not. He says he knows its not but he doesn't know what it is!
So any ideas from this end?

i'm gunna test tomorrow to see if aslong as i don't zoom into the city, if i can still actualy build one of the units!

well u are left w/ one option, un-install it and re-install it again, and dont do what ever u did last time

If you're using the latest patch make sure the unit has a civilopedia entry and an entry in the pediaicons.txt.

Could that be the problem?

It might help if you told us what you did when you added them. Maybe you forgot to rename something or whatever along the way?

Have you checked that the spelling of the unit name is correct on the folder where the animations files are found, the ini file, and the name in the civ editor. The game crashed on me a few times in this way pureley cos i made a spelling mistake somewhere. Ots probabaly a really stupid problem and you'll be kicking yourself when you find out If there isn't anything wrong...then i haven't a clue. You may as well try reinstalling the game. Hope this helps

When i add pedia icons, do they need to be completly new ones, or can i just tell it like say, the orginal carriers for my Ark Royal?

You can just copy another pedia icon entry. Just copy and paste and change it to your unit. For example, copy:

art\civilopedia\icons\units\06warriorlarge.pcx
art\civilopedia\icons\units\06warriorsmall.pcx

paste it at the bottom of the unit list and change it to whatever...

Ya probably want an icon somewhat close in appearance to your new unit but ya don't have to.

yeah, i've went through and all the units who didn't have pedia icons now have others.
