Need Help running Civ IV

I installed the newest patch and still have trouble running the game. It appears to run fine, but there is something wrong with the texts in the game, i can't read any of the menus to play the game and have taken a pic to show this. Any help would be great.

I'd just reinstall the game...won't take but 10 min. That's what I'd do.

What language is that?

I'm sure there are other people that might have a solution to offer you.

Yeah.. Reinstallation won't take anytime at all.

thanks. by uninstalling and re-installing, do I need to re-install the patch also? I think its v1.61 or something. THanks again

Yes you will. Reinstallation will only install the version 1.0 software. After that, just start the game click on the check for updates button. It will download the patch and ask you if you want to install it.

OK, so I tried again and still the menus are illegible and I'm pretty much at a loss for words on what to do...still need some help

my guess: something sucks with your fonts

are you perhaps using a localized version of civ4, or a localized version of windows, or both?

as for fixing, I don't know. try setting your windows regional settings to English or something.

try playing the game blindly, to see if only menu is broken or all gameplay text is messed up.. to do so, select the first option in the menu and then select the bottom right option on several screens.

ugh, dunno. try turning on debugging in ini file and check logs for errors...

thanks for the advice, i tried running the game blindly.....and it doesnt finish loading so i cant even play at all so i still dont know what is wrong

I got the same deal on my version. Installed the 1.61 patch to no avail. P4 2.8 gig, 512 ram, Nvidia 5200 256meg card. Same alien language. Same can't get anywhere to do anything.

I spent about an hour talking with Chris at 2K. Very helpful, but unfortunately, not helpful enough. I sent him a bunch of system info and will call again tomorrow. If I find a resolution to my prob, I'll post up.
