Need help with mod. Simple i just dont get it

All i want to do is create a mod which limits how high up the chain you can go with advances. Id like to cut it off at education so guns are never used. Just a medeival scenario where soldiers and tanks dont come into play.

I have tried deleting all the advances after education but that didnt work at all. This seems like it should be so simple, would someone be so kind to lend me a hand? Thanks!

what happened when you deleted all the techs? maybe i am just not getting it, but if you deleted everything after education that should work fine. what are you still getting that you don't want? or is there someother type of problem you are having after deleting the techs?
 
as soon as i settle i have the option build riflemen and all sorts of wonders like the internet
 
i see, well the problem is most likely all those wonders and units are still in the game, some improvements too and possibly resources, since you removed the tech they require they are buildable at the start. you should either delete all those units / wonders / improvements / resources or add a tech like unavailable flag it as no era and make all the undesired stuff require that tech, since it can't be researched none of that stuff will be available to build.
 
canyou handle it, or do you want me to do it and upload it for you. it's not as hard as it sounds, just involved. if you want me to do it i dont know when i'll be able to ge tto it, depends on how many pbem turns i get tomorrow, past my bedtime already here.

okay, like i said though, it might be awhile. in the meantime let me know exactly where you want the techs cut off, i know education, but what about the other line of research, invention, etc, where do i cut that off. and do you want to consider at least allowing sea travel, maybe ocean as well or otherwise a continental map might be almost impossible and an arch map . . . anything else you want done let me know, liike for instance, do you want to include the military academy? the SoZ and knight's templar would never expire in this set up. anything you can think of le tme know, it might actually take some playing / testing before you get what you actually want. you mentioned something about a map, i really was not planning on doing a map, but i am sure i could throw in a pangea and make sure no islands if you want or you can search for someone else to make a map and give them the specs.
 
It isn't that difficult. You'd just have to choose 'unavailable' as tech prerequisite for everything you don't want, instead of deleting the tech required (which results in 'none').
Plus, since you will have a problem with Workers otherwise, you need a dummy resource (like the Guinea Pigs in the Mesoamerica Conquest) for Rail Roads. (Dummy Resource=not on the map, visible with an 'unavailable' tech)
You could as require that resource for everything you don't want.

Cant find such a drop down where it say unavailible, can you walk m e through it, Id appreciate it ever so much :confused: :confused: :confused:
 
just set every tech you don't want to "era none"
 
it's in the mail to ytou know, let me know if you need anymore adjustments made i hav eit saved on my hard drive, but you should probabaly just look at it in the editor if you need any changes to improve your modding ability. i stopped techs at education and invention. any techs you want to add back in, say medicine for hospitals, just make medicine in the middle ages and needs education as a prerequisite or something like that. or any units / improvements you want to add just assign them to oneo fthe techs which are available.

also wanted to point out, ottomans, russia, korea, germany, spain, and america no longer have uu available to them.
