Well, I find it ridiculous that advances are made through government owned scientific
whatever, you get the point
So, here is my idea of a new science advancing method.
During the stone, classical ages, advances would be made very slowly; they would come out as events of some short that you would not control. The advances would spread very rapidly to the nearby civilizations.
For example, you scientific advisor would inform you that someone has advanced iron working.
Well, if the event would happen in your city, you would be the first to build iron-weapons, but keeping that tech to your self forever would be impossible, and it would spread to other cultures in matter of decades.
Also, social conditions and environmental conditions would affect the scientific discoveries. For example, if you would start in wide open steppes, you would get such discoveries as horseback riding very fast, and you could get horse connected inventions such as stirrup, horse breeding ETC. Of course you need to find horses first. And there should be different domestic war animals, such as elephants, camels
Also, another idea I had was that your Civ could become a sort of semi-nomadic, or semi-settled.
Which would mean that you could easily move, or migrate to another place away from very powerful civs?
Darn, I should have left some space for discussion
