Hi,

The best part about playing CIV 3 on the IBM was the fighting sounds when the different units were in combat, but my Mac version doesn't seem to have these sounds. Am I doing something wrong or is this something that will be added in a future patch?

Have you patched it, yet? It needs 1.17g for fixing some items. It also changes some game-play so make sure its what you want. I'd wait for the next patch which ought to be out in another week.

Let's not jump the gun. I can't promise when the patch will be ready (I'm still waiting for the new code). It could be next week, it could be several weeks.

Absolutely. I didn't consider how my words would affect the rumor mill.

Macsoft/Westlake knowing released the game with almost no sound effects working, and without a warning to the buying public stating as much - see the comments in the thread "Bugs under Mac OS 9". I have, however, edited the .ini files myself so that all the units now have sound effects, if only rudimentary ones. Macsoft/Westlake could easily have done this before publishing as a temporary fix until the .amb sound effects could be properly implemented. It makes the game much more enjoyable to play.

Careful with the accusations there, Tex. That definitely wasn't the case.

Huh?

Even before downloading any of the patches, I had fighting sounds, they were intermitent at times, but they were there.
