No Map :(

I don't know if this is a bug, but I'm having a "problem" with the map ... there isn't one! On my first game, I got a map, but it was randomly located. My next two or three games, no map was uncovered. But on my last game, only a small part of the map was uncovered,...AND IT WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO MY CITIES! What am I doing wrong?

True to course, on my next game, the map started clearing...FROM AN UNPOPULATED AREA!!! However, there is a new problem: the "shade" stays with my monitor not the map. Any thoughts?

Lots of people are discussing this in the extensive "Terrain is Dark" bug thread. It sounds to me like it's programmatic rather than video card and really should be patched and quick, but we'll see.

This very problem is what got me to register here. (Hi hi)
