ok... this is annoying now..

ive made one of my own units, but when i put it into units.gif it dont work even iff ive added it to the rules.txt file...
do i open units.gif in paint or change units.gif to units.bmp?

one more thing if i do somehow get inot the game after adding a new unit it only shows the outline of the shield nothing else for a unit.... goddamn it

this sounds like you managed the rule.txt part right but edited the wrong unit.gif.

Personally I prefer to wrok with bmp files.

BTW did you start a new scenario or are you messing with your master Civ directory files (the latter is highly unrecommended).

i used the later..... ooops so how do i make my own units in my own scenarios then?

download someone elses scenario (maybe mine) which uses bmp files. Use those files as templates as they have the right palette and stuff.

To start a scenario, begin a game on an existing map and then activate the cheat menu. After that you can save as a scenario.
