Toshiba Satellite P25-S520 or P25-S676 (laptop) w/ Windows XP Media Center & SP2:

Using the automated install for the game does not work.

This is because the automated install continually tried to install a new NVIDIA driver for the GeForce Go5200 (P25-S520) or GeForce Go5700 (P25-S676).

As soon as the CD launches, it will try to install a new NVDIA driver and asks for the machine to be rebooted afterwards. After rebooting, I would run the CD again, and again it would try to install a new NVIDIA driver! This could cycle forever without any progress on the Civ4 install. So instead, I went and installed the very latest NVIDIA driver myself (Forceware 81.95) and then "opened" the CD, went into the directx 9 directory, manually installed it,

After a reboot, I manually ran the Civ4 setup file. This elaborate manual procedure resulted in a perfectly working Civ4 on the machine.

Note that even after manually upgrading the machines to the very latest NVIDIA Forceware 81.95 drivers, the automated install for Civ4 still will try to re-install an NVidia graphics driver and still will try to loop forever (install graphics driver --> reboot --> install graphics driver --> reboot --> etc.).
