Open Borders Agreements

I do not know if this has been asked before, but I find it strange to have a -(minus) modification for "Our Closed borders spark tensions" when having open borders agreement with a civilization... Does anyone know why this is happening?

Isn't is "close," not closed? E.g., they are unhappy because your borders are so near each other.

Yeah, kumquatelvis is right. The penalty's not about open or closed borders, its because your civs are next to each other, and quite possibly your culture is also clashing (I don't know for sure if its the culture overlapping, or simply the proximity, that causes the diplomatic hit, because they almost always go together).
It's quite normal to have open borders with a neighbour, and gain a diplomatic bonus from that, while also getting a penalty with them because you're next to each other.

Oh yes, you are right! It is "close", I was always translating it in my mind as "closed"!!
