I have just started a let's play of Orcs Must Die 2. The first episode contains the first two levels of the game. I will get more episodes up as soon as possible. I recorded the first episode with the demo since the demo contains the first two levels of the game. This is how I was able to get the first episode to you guys so fast. Thanks in advance if you check my let's play out.

If you are on the fence about getting the game then hopefully this video will help you decide. This game is fun and personally I think it is a must buy.

Thoroughly enjoyed the 1st one, glad to see they added an endless mode to the 2nd. The co-op option also has me waiting to play to see if a friend gets interested =)

edit 8-11: I've got to say, this is one of the better PC games I've played in recent years. It is a perfect mix of fun, challenge, and even some quality funny.

I only played one game of endless so far. It got really hard really fast. :) The idea isn't to beat it but just to see how many waves you can survive. It is like survival mode in Dungeon Defenders except it never ends and the difficulty ramps up much quicker.

I've played it a fair bit at this point and overall I think it's a great game. If I had to lodge a complaint against it though it would be that the map design is not as good as in the first game if you are playing by yourself. It starts off fine but after a certain point it seems like they forgot that some people would be soloing it and just focused on designing the maps for co-op. If they ever make Orcs Must Die 3 I hope they make the story mode focused around soloing and maybe make some separate co-op themed maps or something, because while the game itself is fantastic, the individual levels are not as fun as in the first game because they feel awkward to play when you are by yourself.

I just passed it on normal mode, all solo.

You're right that most of the maps become about covering multiple pathways to the rift, but that's really not much different from the 1st. Most of the challenging maps on the 1st one were the same way.

Part of the fun and the frenetic nature of the game is learning how to cover those multiple fronts.

And with endless mode, it's quite easy to get some good, challenging gameplay on at least one single pathway map. This is a big improvement from the 1st, where all the single pathway maps were too easy.

Oh also, forgot to mention this earlier, but they should really have a note when selecting your character saying that the sorceress is a more advanced class or something. I picked her cause she was new but not having access to tar makes a lot of the maps significantly more difficult for me than they are for the bro mage. I have no problem with this as I enjoy the challenge but some warning would have been nice, maybe I would have started with the other guy until I got the hang of the new traps and such had I known how much tougher it would be for her ;).

Yeah the tar + swinging maces combo is brutal and I used it all the time in OMD1.

HOWEVER, the sorceress charm ability is even better IMHO. I use it constantly. It does a number of things

1. Slows down a group of mobs as they turn on the charmed guy
2. Usually ends up killing that guy
3. Hurts AND stuns all nearby mobs when charmed mob is killed and blows up
4. Can also be used as a long term stun against powerful, single mobs. You can either charm them and go do something else for a bit... or just charm them and attack them.

It's ridiculously useful.

The charm is cool but usually if it's a group of small guys I'd rather just use lightning, and if it's a big guy polymorph ring. Charm has it's uses but it's pretty situational, usually it's faster to take care of the mobs a different way, and since par time counts for a whole skull this time instead of just affecting score faster ways are better.

There were time penalties in OMD1.

I haven't run into a time-skull loss yet in 2, and I use the charm constantly. I think it has great dps.
