Anyone ever get the way with a little civ, where you look after it? As in give it money and science?
I usually only do that with civ's that come up after you've wiped out the other one of the same colour... They seem to be going pretty hard and have enemies surrounding them so I pump them full of science and money... They love me and will blindly attack anyone I tell them to... It doesn't give you too much advantage in the game at all, but it is a little bit of a hobby... Especially if, when they are regenerated, they are brought back up on the most stupid, crappiest chunk of tundra on the whole map and there is no way for them to get ahead... Anyway, just thought I'd put that weird peice of information forward for perusal.
Thanks.

The Care and Feeding of Pet Civs

Depending on your own power in the game, and your own civ color, I'll gift the pet civ with every advance. I've chopped the cost of a single advance from over 5,000 beakers to about 2,500 beakers this way (after gifting from pre-gunpowder up to Stealth, like I did to the Sioux in GOTM 5).

Make sure you have your "pet" civ totally controlled before giving all techs, though. They should not be growing at all, preferably in a food deficit with no (or one) net shields. I'm doing that to the English in GOTM 6, LOL...they have only one shield total, which is used to support their pikeman defender. The can never build anything again, and I won't give them Fundamentalism.

BTW, in GOTM 6, since the human is the Purple civ, and assuming the human is Supreme, gifting has absolutely no effect and is utterly unnecessary. In GOTM 5, gifting the Sioux was essential to reduce the cost of science, esp. in late game.
