In a PBEM game, if you attack with a hidden nationality unit do you have to report it was you sinking\destroying the other unit or because it has hidden nationality there is no need?

I think this is something the referee should decide, if it was not covered before the game.

no, otherwise HD turns into any other unit. the referee shouldnt decide.

What I am saying is that any rule that was not already agreed to or no agreement can be reached, need the ref.

If you get a majority to agree then that is the end of it.

Isn't that the advantage of the unit?

I agree, the special ability of a unit with 'hidden nationality' is to be able to attack any player and AI with immunity ...

Reporting could be fun  one could have 'viewed' this attack and report it as a bystander or one could also warn friends and foe alike of narrow escapes :mischief: ... and then pounce.

IMHO, you can report if you wish and that would be a rather honorable behavior. After all, you are supposed to be playing in a friendly company. :)

However, if you choose not to report, that is OK also.

The whole point of HD is so that they don't know who attacked them. If you said that it was you, then they could declare war on you the next turn in retaliation.

It would take a devious player to claim a sunk pirate. it would be more devious to declare war because their pirate was sunk. but it takes a master of the craft to claim a sunk pirate and declare war when the pirate was never theirs to begin with.
