Does anyone know how to figure out (or where to find information) approximatley how long a revolution will last? What factors go into deciding how long anarchy will last?

I looked around the site and didn't find anything...

Usually between 3-8 turns, but just 1 if you are a religious civ.

This size of your empire affects it too. I have had 1-turn anarchy as a non-religious civ with 1 city, and it lasts a long time when I own half the map.

There is a trick to reduce anarchy by one turn: When your scientists ask you to choose the next tech to research (after you completed researching a tech), choose the tech then change the government in the same session. If your are religious, then you will prompted to choose your new government next screen.

I don't know what influences the period of anarchy (besides being religious which shortens the period to one turn) but when you click on your domestic advisor, he will tell you how long anarchy will last.

I've heard its related to the number of luxuries you have but others think it's just a random number between 4 and 8.

It always takes too long if you ask me.

In the Domestic Advisor screen, scroll through her comments, you should see: "Its touch and go...we should have the government under control in x turns."

CG

EDIT: AFAIK its been proven that its related to your civs happiness

i always thougt it was 6 turns unless you were a religius civ as i had only had 6 turn revelutions

The amount of misinformation in this thread is staggering.

If you are religious, anarchy lasts one turn.

If you are not, then the duration of anarchy is dependent on the number of cities you have and a random die roll. IIRC, the number of cities gives a factor between 1 and 4 and the die roll is 0-4, but I could have those backwards. It's close to that, anyway.

Thanks Arathorn,

Now could you post a link to a thread were relevant info could be found cause I don't get it from you post either.

Is it the more cities, the more ananrchy or the opposite?

The more cities you have, the longer the anarchy. I can't find a thread that discusses this. The original information was divulged in a chat by one of the Firaxians and had exact details.

The # of city influence is fixed, dependant on the number of cities (and OCN, of course, so it varies with map size). The random part can be verified to be random by playing with the PRNG before revolting.

I'm sorry I don't remember the exact details. # of foreigners, amount of happines, original govt. type, etc. play NO role (unless they changed this in a patch and didn't tell anyone).
