I am remembering that one feature as a startup option I would very much love to see in Civ IV is to be able to play any sequence of ages I want as a complete game. Maybe I want my entire game to take place in the ancient era. Usually what I would like is a game from ancient era through the medieval period or industrial age. Sometimes medieval alone would be fun.
If an option to pick the ages you want to play were made, then the passing of years should be adjusted so I can spend much more time in those one or two ages I have chosen.
My present conundrum is that I love the first half of the game, but when I play on Emperor or Deity, the years are compressed and the civs discover techs at such a rapid rate that it just rushes through my favorite part of the game. If I play on lower levels, the game is too easy and I get bored. I have so little power with the limited options in the startup menu. In fact, it feels like less control and variability than Civ II.
