player start

i apologize if this question has already been asked. i have created a map and have put a "Player Start" icon where I want my civilization to start. however, everytime i start the game, my player is not in the "Player Start" area. why is this? how do i properly use the "Player Start" device?

The player starting position is random among all the possible player starting positions. If your map does not have enough player starting positions defined for the number of civs playing, more are automatically generated. You'll always have just a random chance of starting where you want to using the tools provided with the game.

thanks man, i'll try that out and keep starting till i get the position i want. i noticed you were from atlanta...i'm from marietta and my parents still live there, but i live in germany now.

Well here *IS* a way to set your start posistion. I found the util on here in the util section. but you have to create the scenario, then run it and save it before you do ANYTHNG!

Then you run this util and it will re-save the scenario with your pre-set starting positions.

The only drawbacks are:

1.) You have to load a saved game, not a scenario

2.) You need to use the civ editor and figure out the EXACT starting positions for ALL the civs in your game and then change the example that comes with it to your locations.

But it does work... I created a nice map and then put myself on a continent all by myself!!!
