My apologies if this has been posted before, but I did not see it. BTS crashes my system on a regular basis. Every time, it returns to the desktop with the following message : "the nvidia display driver stopped working correctly. Please reboot your machine and you will get an option to report this error." I am running a GeForce 7800 GS with the lateset drivers (162.18). Here is what I have discovered about this apparent bug:
1) It is random, ocurring every 15-20 turns. Sometimes, it looks like the machine is about to crash and the screen will go black, but the computer will then redraw (slowly) the entire map, allowing me to proceed after about 5 minutes.
2) The bug does not seem to be related to the temperature of the graphics card -- I downloaded Nvidia's monitoring program, and the GPU temp never rises more than 10 degrees Celsius (65-75).
3) Fine tuning (overclocking) the graphics card does not help.
4) Restoring to an older driver might help, but the previous version of the driver will not even load the game, as it does not support DirectX 9.0c.
5) I can eventually finish games by repeatedly reloading from auto saves, but the immersion factor is really reduced.
6) Tinkering with the graphics settings does not help -- neither does reducing the hardware acceleration.
Other than this bug, the game appears to work perfectly -- it is fast and the sound is excellent. Kudos to Firaxis for making such a great game. I am looking forward to this issue being resolved. Thanks in advance to anyone who can suggest a workaround.
