Is there any way to tell how close you are to a domination victory by looking at your category score? I've seen a post about a map calculator, but noticed that it doesn't work with PTW so I was wondering if I could tell if I was close to domination. I currently have a game with 543.2 territory points and thought that it COULD mean I had about 54% of the land mass.

no. it takes 2/3 of the land under your control for domination. you can work out roughly how many squares you own by working out the total squares of the map (60 X 60 for small etc.) - territory points on histograph. if your result is almost at 2/3 or whatever domination point is, then you know that you dont want to expand yet, you you might have room for a few more cities.
anybody correctme on anything if i'm wrong. i sort of worked out how to do it in my head as i wrote.

Territory score is an average over all your turns, so it does not tell much.

You can find out how many squares you control by hitting F11 and dividing the "Land Area" by 100.

Then you need to calculate the number of land squares on the map - this is the total squares on the map times the water ratio. So a 70% water small map would be 40 x 80 x 0.3 = 960 land squares. Don't let your territory exceed 2/3 of the total land.

This method is not exact. Coast is added to land squares for the purpose of domination so your calculation of total land will always be low. And sea is counted as part of your "Land Area" but does not contribute to the domination limit. So you can safely expand your land area to 2/3 of calculated total land and a bit more.

You also need 2/3 of the people as well as the land/coast.
