Does anyone know how railroads will work with Civ4?
I hope it's not unlimited movement again. It's so unrealistic.
I also hope that they won't have any tile improvements, having a railroad in every tile of the city just looks and works bad.

I liked how they worked in call to power, with another level of Maglev transportation, and even that wasn't unlimited.

I think this issue has been discussed before and most people seem to agree with that. The maintenance of railroads seems to be the most consensual answer to this sprawl of railroad (which could cost more per RailRoaded square as more RR you built).

1) We don't know much of civIV of the later 'ages'. We only have seen screens from the first half of the game ("ancient and partly medieval" they could be named).

2) Highway and Railroads should be similar fast (Highway just a lil' bit (!) faster, as it is in RL), but of course they could have different upkeep costs .. :)

3) not instantous travel, because this gives a sense to the airports (which then should be able to airlift more than one unit at a time.

I would like to see RR, harbor, airport, and interstate highway all function in a similar manner, transferring commercial goods, population, and units between connected cities.

I find a continent with every square coved with a web of roads and RR aesthetically unpleasing.
