Hi Zubareva, I've stared long and hard at this city set for a few days. Despite the excellent quality, I like the detail in the junk pile in the back, (I have other thoughts, but they are unrelated to the point.) this one hasn't generated any comments or many downloads. The wall has done better than the city. This isn't an affront, but an honest question from contributor to contributor; any idea why this one is still sitting still?

Anyway, thanks for the set. As the story goes, I don't think I'll use it this minute, but I appreciate the work.

I don't know :) but hopefully it will find a use somewhere :)

some of us have RL commitments. In my case getting started on a "semester in five weeks" set of classes. Spotting a new thread in less than a week isn't bad.

Well, I guess you're excused then. Furthermore, I applaud your (and others') commitment and efforts to continued self-improvement.

OTOH, there were about 160 views on this thread, IIRC, when I made my comment. To me, it doesn't matter how you slice it. 160 people - 80 people each viewing twice - 40 people viewing four times each - whatever. 160 people viewed it and didn't leave a comment. To me, that is too many, especially considering the quality of work.

It's quite simple in my mind. Anyone who goes through the trouble of contributing the work, especially including so many previews, wants feedback. I happen to think that members of the community, in this case 160 people, should be more conscientious* and even more supportive of the contributors. I'm aware that my opinion may not be shared by you, the OP, or anyone else; but as someone who has contributed to the community, it's how I feel.

Spoiler :

Let's imagine, reader, that you have entered your work of art, be it painting, sculpture, or what have you, into the local art fair. As you stand proudly beside your work at the showing, the first 160 people to walk up and take a look at your work just shake their head and walk away saying nothing.

When this happens to me, as it has, I tend to think, regretfully, the work must indeed be crap.

Lack of posts is not at all the same as negative head shaking. This is a logical fallacy known as the "Appeal to Ignorance". Lack of evidence signifies nothing. It does not signify lack of support. It does not signify rudeness. Lack of evidence proves nothing.

You jump from noting 160 views to arguing that 160 people who are members of this community are behaving in this way. Since that would include every single member of the C3 C&C community it is both absurd and insulting. What are your statistics on people who haven't yet had the time to compose a thoughtful supportive comment but have bookmarked or subscribed to the thread? Before attacking the community as a whole perhaps you could gain a bit of perspective by doing a bit of content analysis on all of zubareva's threads. Proportion of positive to neutral/negative comments, Proportion of posts to downloads, numbers of posters compared to other people's threads, etc. And of course it would also be important to a valid analysis to compare comments over time in all creators' threads. Be sure to include the complimentary PMs sent to zubareva - along with PM'd invitations to new projects based on what she's posted. And the monthly polls.

In the past I've PM'd people I know are looking for something to draw attention to a newly posted creation. Same goes for posting about it in scenario wip threads. IMHO both those are more effective tools of persuasion than rude and illogical arguments. But then maybe distorted statistics and vaguely insulting comments are the way to go. I'll have to think about that.

^While I'm sure you're correct above, for me, it is more emotional than logical. I apologize for the vaguely insulting comments to everyone.

Great work on this set! :):goodjob:
