I have been playing lately all standard settings on Emperor and I have never taken the Religious Art follower belief. Does anyone ever take this follower belief or is it mostly considered useless? I am currently playing a Tall Tradition 3 or 4 city game and planning to go for a CV with Ethiopia. Is the 5 culture, 5 tourism worth it with the Hermitage over other beliefs I could take and should I take it upon founding or enhancing my religion?

It's pretty awful. I've taken it once for a culture game, and that was because I was very late enhancing and was going for a culture win.

+5 Tourism is nothing by the time you can actually build a Hermitage.

It's not that bad, the culture also gets multiplied by your hotel, visitor center etc. into more tourism. I'd say it's about on par with the Eiffel Tower.

This is a belief you take when you know you probably won't get to spread your religion because you founded it too late or have a lot of religious civs next to you etc.
In this situation it's quite good.
