Request - Civ3 Lovers

Hi All,

I still prefer civ3 conquests and I am asking this question to all the other fanatics who didn't like the jump to civ4.

Is anyone doing a mod in Civ4 to make it back into civ3?

I love the graphics in civ4 and thats about it.

If the civ4 engine could be used to recreate civ 3 conquests I would be in civtopia for an eternity.

If there are any like minded people out their let me know and lets see if we can do this.

Why bother? Just load up civ3. It's easier.

Because civ4 wasn't what I hoped it would be. It looks beautiful when its not buggy, which is often! The combat is...well...pants and they bolted on lots of fiddly bits which don't really add anything to the game.

In a nutshell its just not fun in the same way conquests is.

Hence I want to mod it backwards to conquests with a few extras that keep with the flow of how civ has progressed in the past. Using the new graphics engine and other advancements to create a more subtle update.

And before everyone jumps down my throat, I'm not slating civ4 as I'm obviously not in a majority here, its just my opinion. A step too far for my taste.

I probably agree with both of you. Overall I think I like Civ3 better, but the amount of work it would take to turn Civ4 into Civ3 is both huge and simply not worth the effort.

There is a community trying to recreate SMAC in Civ4, but if you look at how many people involved as well as how many hours they intend to invest I think you'll see that the effort is really quite unjustifiable given that Civ3 runs fine.

(If I weren't working on my mod I'd probably gravitate back to C3C myself)

Yup I hoped that was the answer I wouldn't get but it was worth checking out. Firaxis are not on my xmas list, back to C3C it is.
