Rivers Are Too Scarce

Just as the title says, I want to know if there is a way to increase the amount of bodies of fresh water in civ2. I like rivers for terraforming into hills for the trade, shield and decent food w/airbase. But every random map I played so far so almost no rivers on them and I have been play civ2 for a long time.

I thought of making my own map, but that kind of defeats the purpose since I will know what the map looks like.

Have you already tried using the Customize World option when starting a new game? If so, have a look at CivMapGen:

And what is wrong with that?
I enjoy playing on known maps more than unknown ones.
But if you insist on that, then have someone else make a custom map for you.
