Russia's Breadline for Starving Artists....

Such a sight as that depicted below should make most of us a bit sad.

So, Russia's lavras generate all these points for creative types, but Russia, despite having a pretty sprawling empire at one point, never gets around to building any theater districts. Much rather go chase after wonders, build settlers, and turn France into its whippin' boy.

So much for cultural revolution....

Yeah, that's why I think the lavra bonus is badly designed. Not only does Russia get too many GP it can't use, but then it's harder for others who can use them to earn them.

There are various ways I see they could have done it differently:
- reduce the points to .5 per type (and perhaps buff Peter's ability)
- give Russia bonus work slots somewhere
- let GP be traded and/or captured

But, yeah, starving artists

Funny enough, I think it's a relatively well designed for the same reason. You are indeed starving the world of great people, which is a plus in itself. If you could employ them easily as well it would be a tiny bit too strong.

Apparently the start of Russian ballet started when Peter the Great opened up Russia to western Europe.
In that case it would be nice to add to Peter's ability where Russian amphitheaters can hold work of music slots and at least make Peter favor building Theater Square districts in the code.
Lavra buildings should also at least hold religious work of arts.

I've also been advocating for an Opera House building mutually exclusive to the Broadcast Center which would hold more Great works of music and writing. The Broadcast Center instead would instead be used to purchase rock bands and keep the one slot it already has.

It's actually a popular Russian saying that 'the artist (talent) should be starving', so the devs clearly did the homework here

Well Russia can of course have religious art slots and most early artists are religious.
It is the great writers that are the main issue although the do make fair scouts
...and I like Russia hogging them, it stops the CV being such a cakewalk.

Artists are as bad for them as it is for them to hoard Writers.

My Religious mods does well enough to provide a Work Slot in every Religlious building but outside of that.

I honestly feel that the Lavra thing should only apply to cities with a Theater Square.
