I think in the original Civ, your score for conquest was based solely on how many turns it took you to finish. I assumed the same for Civ2, but it appears that may not be the case. Can someone confirm this for me? If so, how is the score calculated for conquest?

Thanks.

Well in Civ2 you get a bonus score if you finish quickly - but the bonus score is only applied if it higher then your regular score.

And in Civ2 the bonus score is also based on the number of turns used - but not in some formula - it's like, if you use between X and Y turns then the bonus score is A and if you use between X and Z turns then your bonus score is B.

I can only confirm what Shadowdale said. I think this should be changed in Civ III; you can win in 20 A.D., but still get no bonus score because you alredy had more than 1312 points.

there's a bright day after that,
so no matter how hard it get, stick ya chest out

Sid can take a general lesson from Matrix on that... there should definitely be a built-in progressive adjustment for early finishers. Or at least a 3rd "score" (in addition to the usual base score an percentage) that reports a score based in part on speed/efficiency.

they should in civ3 they should give you bonus on score if you have a low casualty rate.

A full statistical analysis based even on the existing info that Civ II tracks would be nice. If I had the time and Civ II source code (and Microprose's permission), it would not be that hard to add another pull-down option to the menus that would give much more analysis, and a couple new scores based on what you and others suggested. But in general, when I have time, I'd rather play than program anyway
