Screen goes Diagonal in XP x64 with Civ4, Forcing either a hard reset or a shutdown and a restart, The screen flickers too and I don't have SLI either, What cause this to happen and is there a fix and I have the 1.61 patch installed, Video driver is 93.71WHQL for x64.

1. Quad core processor nice
2. Way too many specs the ones I left in are usually all you need and the OS
3. It's a nVidia Geforce card not a Dell card.
4. That sounds like a new PC so it is probably Vista so civ4 might not work on Vista. (Newer Windows always have trouble with software designed for older Windows when I got XP 90% of my stuff stopped working).

Wrong! I said XP x64 as I built the PC myself and I don't have or want Vista and the Video Card says DELL on Its cooler.
See the Pic below, It ain't Vista, Besides Vista costs way too much.

Can you test it in other 3D applications? Even the full series of tests in dxdiag may help.

No other 3D apps are available right now, Sorry. As to DxDiag, I ran both the 32bit and the 64bit versions, Here are the results:

I should mention that When the screen on Civ4 1.61 goes Diagonal, I can and have been recently Alt-Tabbing to the Desktop, Then Clicking on the Icon for Civ4 in the Taskbar and the screen in Civ4 is now correct again(Weird). I don't know what causes the screen to go Diagonal(Bunch of stripes, Bottom Left to Top Right) or the Flickering on screen for that matter. :D

It sounds like a driver issue. You have uninstalled/reinstalled your nvidia software already? These tests may show a DX issue with their 3D portions.
Are there any errors displayed in eventvwr.msc's logs at the time you've launched Civ?

In any case, I think I fixed It, I had to go into the video driver under Settings/advanced/GeForce 7800GTX/Performance & Quality Settings and uncheck Application-Controlled and set Antialiasing settings to 4x and except for some problems with the screen getting pixelization that doesn't last long and the occasional flicker(so far at least), Everything is fine.

Edit: I also reduced Image Settings from Quality to Performance which is in the same Performance & Quality Settings area of course and that seems to have helped a bit, Even though I'm still getting screen corruption, So far Alt-Tabbing to the desktop and back seems to help for a bit.

FYI, it is traditional to refer to nVidia processor-based cards by "nVidia" even if Dell (or PNY or ...) manufactured the card. You can also include the manufacturer's name if you wish (and it can be relevant occasionally) but the nVidia part is much more important. (Not that anyone couldn't easily figure it out, but still.)

AA for some reason causes all sorts of odd problems, and it's not consistent as to whether turning it off or turning it on fixes the problems. It's very odd. I can't use AA at all (ATI x800) or it crashes...

@ Snoopy369 I'll ignore that as It says DELL on the Card and It's a 7800GTX as that is good enough for Me, As I'm not a Nit picker. No offense Snoopy369.

I'm just trying to be helpful to you, if you want help from people you will need to learn the language :)

Graphics cards are basically chips put together on a circuit board. The chips are manufactured by one of two companies (mostly), nVidia and ATI. Those chips are put on circuit boards by many different companies (Dell, PNY, BFG, etc.), and those companies tend to put their own logos on things.

However, the logo of the circuit board manufacturer isn't particularly useful, as nVidia is the company that makes the drivers for the cards, and 7800GTX is a model of nVidia chipset.

So, as I said, if you wish you may refer to it as a Dell nVidia 7800GTX, but referring to it as a Dell 7800GTX is not helpful.

It would be like if I took a Coca-Cola fountain machine and took my own bottles, filled them with Coca-Cola, and put a SnoopyCola label on them. You could describe the cola as SnoopyCola if you wanted, but people would look at you funny, and it wouldn't really accurately describe the drink. Calling it Coca-Cola, or SnoopyCola Coca-Cola, would be more accurate and make more sense to those who you were talking to, since the important part of what it is, is Coca-Cola.
