The Feitoria is a very interesting improvement in Civ VI (and it was in Civ V as well). You build it in foreign territory, and it provides that foreign city with extra yield. I think it would be interesting if, in addition to the economic benefit, the Feitoria also provided a small combat boost to naval units defending on the tile. This would seem to fit historically, as my understanding is that the Portuguese Feitorias were usually fortified and protected by a naval presence. It would also be interesting as a gameplay mechanic, as it would allow Portugal to help defend its allies (including city states) from possible invasion (especially oversea), and would also act as an additional deterrent to attacking the civ with the Feitoria (since they can then use its fortification bonus against your navy).

Considering that the Civ V representation of Feitorias was basically a fort (on land), I'm surprised that the Civ VI version does not provide any military benefit.

What does the community think? Should the Feitoria act as a "coastal fort" for naval units?

Yes.

I don’t see why not, although it’d be a fairly niche case where you’d actually use it.

Yes! Gimme that historical flavorrrr

Well to add even more realism, and to incentivize taking care of them and defending, I would like my Nau's to be able to repair my pillaged feitorias!

Without costing any Build Charges would be the cherry on top for me.

Naus can repair pillaged tiles. I've done it with Fishing Boats pillaged by barbs. I guess you can't repair pillaged Feitorias because they're in another civ's territory? IIRC, vanilla Civ VI allowed builders to repair pillaged improvements in other civ's territory, and it was exploited during wartime to farm HP when sieging cities, so Firaxis patched it out. Would be nice if you could repair pillaged improvements in friends' and allies' cities in general. Doing so should maybe even grant small amounts of Diplo Favor and/or green diplo modifiers.

Pretty sure repairing pillaged improvements does not cost build charges, unless that's been changed recently. So if Naus were able to repair pillaged Feitorias, it would presumably not cost a charge.

Absolutely, as in any other repair activity

Yes, Nau's cannot repair Feitorias because they are in another civ's territory. But that should be allowed as an exception (just as Nau's can build Feitorias in foreign territory)
