Should I cheat and increase the difficulty?

Should I activate the scenario editor and increase the difficulty setting on this one game I'm playing? It's cheating so I wouldn't get the score recorded, but I'm having too easy a time in the game I'm playing.

If you are having too easy a time and will gain more fun by increasing
the difficulty I say go for it. Put it this way, your only giving the AI an
advantage .

Here's a nice way to use the scenario editor to add challenge: Once you are #1 in the might bar, you must switch places with the lowest ranked AI faction. Typically you will inherit a horribly mismanaged empire that hasn't even researched Centauri Ecology! Getting back on top is quite a challenge, but you must also fight the monster you created: you former faction now managed by the AI!
