Anyone else think they are pretty awesome?
Base 22 attack + 50% vs mounted

Facts about them:
1. When you upgrade them to cavalry they won't get the mounted damage penalty
2. You get pretty much rifle strength vs units when most plays have swords or long swords.
3. They have no hard counters. Pikes do okay vs them but since their attack strength is so high they don't get hard countered.
4. Since they are so strong vs units they can earn promotions quickly (kill kill killl)
5. 4 movement cavalry with march and blitz=lol imba.

They arn't amazing for conquering because of their 2 movement, no terrain defensive bonuses, and city damage penalty but they are amazing for defense on open ground. If you can take a couple of cities with them you are golden.

I agree, they're awesome. Computer spams them out like crazy. Siam's UU, flavors, & diplo traits make it a difficult opponent in nearly every game.

I also agree, I find them a tougher opponent than even Greece. In my games they expand very quick, and once they have those elephants they are difficult to conquer. If they don't start on the same continent as me, they are almost always the runaway civ across the world.
And they always seem to have the most money, and CS allies, the also tend to steal most of my CS allies too.

These damn elephants :) They are my greatest challenge during the renaissance era. Takes me 3 janissaries + 1 general to kill one safely on an open plain.

Once during a conquest i came across those elephants and they demolished my entire army. Had to take a peace treaty for my general to run away ... LOL. Since then i never try to conquer siam until the modern era ... hahaha

Spain's tercio's are actually pretty decent against Siam's eleohants. I played a game against Siam, and those tercio's wiped out the elephants without dying themselves. Conquistadors, however, hahaha,......R.I.P. :( Siam is definetely a contender.
