Slave and reputation...

I am wondering, say Civ A fought a war with Civ B and captured many slaves from Civ B. And suddenly Civ A decided that I was too weak compare to them and decided to attack me. I retaliated and I won. In return, I captured Civ A workers as well as Civ B workers which turned slave for Civ A.

So, will this hurt my reputation with Civ A?

ps: I am asking this because I captured British slaves from Germans when the Germans decided to attack me yesternight.... and what do you know, the next turn I checked, Elizabeth was annoyed with me from being gracious... *shrug*

The AI doesn't like you having thier workers. You can sell them back or add them to one of your 'safe' cities.

Does this also count if you buy them 'legally' from the AI - or only when capturing? (stupid question, I know, but you never know with the CivIII AI :p)

IIRC when I used to buy slaves from another civ, I would get a penalty in Vanilla Civ3. I think that a later version may have eliminated this, since the civs were selling the units in the first place.

I'm 98% certain there's no rep penalty and I'm pretty sure I didn't see anything in Bamspeedy's comprehensive AI attitude article about slaves. Now, it might factor into the AI's decision to go to war (or it might not), but I don't think it matters in terms of rep or attitude.

There is a happiness impact to having foreign workers. There are several things that can affect AI attitude, though.

Here is Bamspeedy's article. AI Attitude

Disbanding slaves seems to have an effect.

It would be nice if you could see your reputation and see what actions you did to deserve that reputation (It's been years, but if I'm not mistaken Civ II allowed you to see your rep).

It would also be nice to see other civs reps when dealing with them.

That would be a great idea! You could finally see what you did wrong.

I am pretty sure in CivII you could see your reputation as a number by using the Cheat menue.

What if you turn enemy workers into airbases and radarsites? AI seems to hate me regardless.
