For those of you who have played sid meirs alpha centauri what did you like and not like about it.

I personally liked the AI and the missiles. I loved how the missiles would destory tiles when theyd blow up. Spies also became extremely useful in SMAC and i miss that.

how can you not notice? I think what you meant to say was "I'm too lazy to scroll down the page to bother"

no i just havent noticed...ive mainly been posting in general discussion and warlords. You dont have to be a ****** about it

QFT. 'cuz it really makes sense to post about a 10 year old game in the Civ 4 forums.

Damn, thought there was a K on the end of the title... :)

I like the open-end nature in many regards.

(1) Design your own units. Compared to Civ II, you're not restricted to a set number of units
(2) Terraforming. Civ II had settlers and engineers (IIRC). In SMAC, you start with a terraformer that can do the basics. As you gain certain techs, it gains additional powers until you can turn ocean to land and vice versa!
(3) Specialists. As you gain tech, you gained access to increasingly more productive specialists.
(4) Lots of Secret Projects (Wonders in Civ II) that enhanced basic characteristics.

I liked the Planetary Council thing as well (sure, civ 4 has the UN but for some reason I still prefer SMAC's version). And somehow Ascenscion seems a more worthy goal than just disappearing off to Alpha Centauri... probably that's just me :)
