Spell power

Hi all

I have checked that not all spells get stronger as the spell power of the caster increases via combat promotions. I was wondering... which spells are affected by the spell power of the caster? And how are they affected?

It would be great that spells like inspiration or hope were getting also bonuses from spell power...

Good question. I've wondered that myself. Specifically, is Domination harder to resist from a caster with increased strength?

Combat promotions give Empower promotions to summons of any type (Fireballs, elementals, etc). They also add to the damage of direct damage spells only (Maelstrom, Destroy Undead, Pillar of Fire, etc). As far as I know they don't have anything to do with resistances.

Channeling promotions reduce the chance of spell resistance.

Metamagic promotions add damage to direct damage spells, AND reduce spell resistance.

In other words, the only way to make your Domination more reliable is to give your archmage/lich/whatever Metamagic promotions.

Spells that create a building (Inspiration, Hope, Wall of Stone) have identical results no matter who or what cast them.

So I guess it's a bad idea to go metamagic + fire... the fireball are not more powerful?
Actually there are few DD spells as it seems now, at least for adepts.
