I play as Rome, Continents, standard, King.
I just quit what I thought would be my best king game.
Plan was REX for tall and WALL science focused.
Scouted for mountains in jungle for research tiles /w observatory.
I find Aztecs and Ethiopia on either side IN a big jungle with a mountain inbetween their capitals (these where close for capitals.)
Stole Ethiopian worker with scout.
Time my balista/warrior rush good and take out aztecs who went military. Ethiopia decided mid war to start pumping out settlers in the forest and expanded so he took some time.
Although Russia rather than preventing Italy from invading Ethiopia, this time around joins in and we become bestfriends.
Netherlands also liked me, So I am the proud owner of 3 capitals with Russia and Netherlands not thinking I am a warmonger.
I thought we had a European union thing happening so I am just trying to get my 3 cities some infrastructure, shrines, library, market except my boarders arnt expanding and forest isnt good for production so its a slow process.
Then my BFFs start denouncing me and mocking my puny civ and army, they had spawled everywhere and even had cities with a higher pop than my cap which suffered at the start by going production so I could start pumping out balistas.
As mid game kicks in holding off 2 waring civs easily, my problem is having no border growth then the scoreboard comes up and I am 10 techs behind so capping 2 capitals before I even get legions was NOT a good start somehow and I dont know where I went wrong.
I find if I wait until my capital is built up, its hard to capture other capitals cause they get too tall and have castles up by the time I get through their army.
