I acquired a copy of Firefly Studios' "Stronghold" last week & I love it. It was designed by a couple of Impressions escapees & it pretty much blows the Age of Empires seires right out of the water IMO. It basicaly boils down to a beautiful marriage of AoE & Caesar III. If you're a fan of sim/strategy game (as I'm sure that most of the membership on this site are), it's a run, don't walk thing. I got my copy at CompUSA on sale for $29.95 (US), which is a good price. I've seen it at Best Buy & Electronics Botique for $39.95. Enjoy.....gjts00.

I just played the demo and didn't like it at all. IMO it was like taking the worst parts of AoE 2 and Cesar 3 and make a game of it. Maybe the full game is totally different from that demo, but defending that demo castle from some ppl who come from outside the map wasn't even close to the fun of a game of AoE2 where i got different resources/techs/civs. :o

I think if I played the demo I would still like AOK better because it is one of my favourite games. I like how you have to act quickly to build a base and an army. Theres nothing like trying to defend against a superior army on land by lining ships along the coast and then building onagers and camels...

I didn't play the demo, I bought the game because of the feature that Compter Games ran in their September 01 issue. From what I understand, the demo only covers the combat aspect of the game. The full game has much more depth. A full set of raw materials, which through constrution of industrial buildings manufactured goods (food, weapons & armor, ale etc...) can be produced in much the same fashion as the AoE series. Also your favor rating (what the pesants think of you) is a key element in game play.
