Swamp attack, Improvement left out

After some time in the game, around the 18th century, swamps suddenly covered a lot of the continent. Why?


Second question: I was tired of picking improvements for all the small, insignificant cities, so I set it on auto; domestic. For some reason, when there's nothing more to build except Mass Transit, it starts building Barracks all over again. I've patched the game, so I don't really understand why this happens.

When you have too much pollution, i.e. skulls seen on the map and not the triangles in the citybox, you experience global warming which pretty much destroys the map and turn it into desert, swamps and plains. Clean the pollution as soon as possible, or build solar plants, which increase the tolerance for pollution.

Did you allready have barracks in that city? I think barracks is a military building, and therefore the military advisor choose to build it and not the domestic advisor.

I see. I never set the auto-build on 'both' or 'military', so I find that strange.
