I made it so that tactical nuks did not reveal their nationality with the editer. However when I now use a tactical nuke it doesn't count as a declaration of war nut the AI still declares war on me. Can any body help with this?:nuke:

Also post on the poll what you think of the current (not my) tactical nukes.:nuke:

not to reveal nationality when you launch a nuclear missile - why would anyone do that?

I have used the nuclear missile 1 & the icbm once - just to test out what would happen - otherwise, I ve never used them. I never build them and I do not plan to either.

why do you want to hide your nationality - if you do want to go to war - go to war - if you want to be a terrorist - I'd suggest another game...but hey - that's just my two cents

Thunderfall can you erase this post please (I have two times the same message)

In the forum in general, nobody seem to use them ( ICBM include). In the historical view, nuclears weapons gains their power since today by being a tool for the superiority not for use.

In game play, Firaxis should make nukes have a better diplomatic impact by increase the power that allows thoses nukes.

:nuke: more powerfull than :tank: in diplomatics relations

Hmm, does the AI go nuts and declare war on everybody, or just you? Doesn't sound like the hide nationality option is working correctly. Though if it were, it could be potentially unbalancing since the AI doesn't utilize editor changes nearly as well as the human player.

I've never launched a single nuke, i retire once it becomes obvious i have the game won. The late game turns are too long and tedious, and the wait between turns is a killer. Only had the technology to once or twice, and at that point there was no need.

Anyway, i was wondering, how does the power of a tac nuke compare to that of an ICBM? Does it damage units in the same way, and is the blast radius comparable?

I don't normaly use any nukes. However when I get bored... I wanted the tactical nuke to have a hidden nationality because I thought what was the point in it compared to the ICBM - it has a lower range and its only advantage is that it can move. So, as in real life, if a tactial nuke was launched from a sub then the victim nation wouldn't know who had launched it, just a few hunches. This is why I made it have a hidden nationality.

Tactial Nukes have the same impact and diplo effects as ICBMs.

I always put nuclear subs inside enemy coastline, just to make the game more realistic (I'm sure we have nukes off the coast of China!), but with ICBM's you really don't need tactical nukes. They aren't that much cheaper than ICBM's and you need a sub for each one. But they are still pretty cool...

I've never had an actual nuclear war: when I start them, I'm the only one who has nukes. Will the AI ever start one?

I always have ICBMs before I build the manhattan project so Tactical Nukes are never really an option for me. But ICBMs are the ultimate unit hitting anywhere on the map, why would you even want tactical nukes? Can the strategic defense stop tactical nukes?

Is it possible to build ICBMs before building Manhattan Project?

you cant. besides icbm's go EVERYWERE i could nuke the north pole if i wanted to (France, for some reason, has cavalry there)

Tactical nukes are decent but it really depends how big the world you are playing is. In a HUGE or LARGE world, ICBMS are infinitely move valuable than tacticals, while in STANDARD or less Tacs are usually good enough for most battles (as long as you have some subs and naval routes)
