5. Would any of you consider running for one of the other strategic consul positions?
I looked through all of the other threads and this is the only one that interests me at the moment. Managing science and getting resources will be a fun challenge. I am somewhat steamed at SAAM's comment:

I encourage people who are looking to possibly enter this race to enter another one. This has enough as it is. Same goes for candidates that entered later on.
So our country should dismiss the possible best person for the job simply because they could only get to their computer at 7:49pm?

I'm not saying that. I respect you and pete ofall the other candidates here because I already know you and pete. I will grow to repsect the others, I guarentee that. I am simply stating that it has been nearly a full 24 hours since this poll opened. Were a person to want to compete for this job, they would have posted by now. As I stated, it is a good thing that we have this competition. I welcome it.

Candidates,

1. What long-term techs would you like to see us go after?

2. What techs would you encourage us not to sell to neighbors?

Well this is my first demogame, and I firmly believe that I'd be very strong at this acpect of the game as I do know how to keep up in Tech on the harder levels e.g. Deity and on MP too. I am considering going for another position too, only because I want to get involved in this thing and probably have a lot to offer in all areas, and that is the reason i think i would do well in this particular area too, as I understand the all round game.

Candidates,

1. What long-term techs would you like to see us go after?

2. What techs would you encourage us not to sell to neighbors?

Long term, we should aim to dominate, get to Scientific Method first, build the Theory of Evolution first and get Atomic Theory and Electronic, where we can build the Hoover Dam, and with this unquestionable strenght win the game.

I would say don't sell militaristic techs, as that way we have the advantage for a certain time, giving our leaders the chance to strike and have an easy fight.

Thanks for the answers, Sucha Soorma, and welcome to Demogame VI!

Just so you know, you are allowed to run for only one office per term.

1) Well, the first question depends really on what type of game we want. It also deals with what the definition of "long term" is. Should long term be the end of the Ancient Age, I personally would like to see a quick trip to whatever government it is that we want. If long term is the end of the Middle Age, this would be Theory of Gravity and Economics. Should long term be defined as the Industrial Age, I would like to see a dash to the ToE. But, should (for some reason that is both bizzare and sensible at the same time) long term mean the Modern Age, I cannot forecast that. It is impossible to see now, without having even started, as to what our endgame goals are.

2) The Do Not Sell List is easy to make up once you have determined what you want to do. Normally, it consists of Iron Working, Literature, the techs directly before Philo and any governments. This covers all strategies of the Ancient Age. These should not be sold unless you are a) very far ahead b) have researched the tech for the next unit style or c) have obtained the Great Wonder or free tech from said technology.

I hope this iluminates my position.

Would any of you consider running for one fo the other strategic consul positions? The External and Domestic Consul positions currently only have 1 candidate (me) between the 2 offices. It would be beneficial to have a real debate and real election in these policy setting positions.

Yes, I would consider it, but I like this postiion the best. Governor was fun too..:D I think I will try to run for more than this through the whole DemoGame..with all these new spots..:D

1. What long-term techs would you like to see us go after?

Well, let see..anything to keep the people happy as out nation grows and grows. But dont get me wrong, I would research military techs too..like the all might NUKE! :D Also we need to make money to keep everything stable. Each elected post is part of the DemoGame team. Even the citizens.

2. What techs would you encourage us not to sell to neighbors?
I would not sell Literature until right after the Great Library is built and if they dont have the tech. I wouldn't sell military techs for sure. That could make them more powerful. Plus I dont think I would sell something that has a wonder until somebody built if they dont have the tech.

1. What long-term techs would you like to see us go after?
For the ancient age, I want the wheel and iron working. After that, we'll need to analyze the game and see where we are. A militaristic game will make us think about acquiring monarchy. A culture based game will see a dash for libraries. Growth will require construction and currency.

2. What techs would you encourage us not to sell to neighbors?
We need to keep the AI in the dark, so no trading away iron working. No giving away monarchy/republic either. The construction/currency combo is valuable too, but I fear we may drop behind in techs early on.

As a firm and devout supporter of Resource industrialism in all my games, I have to put all my support on Regent Man here.
