Has anyone here played? It's a multiplayer tetris game.

We had a pretty good game yesterday. It was me, Palehorse, Genghisk, Kira, and Stefan playing. It will run under most versions of windows....but Win2k doesn't seem to be able to host servers.

And... see it's the 1st time we had the same idea.

Anyway, yeah it rocks. Today we had another one with Kira and PaleHorse. Since you didn't activate ICQ we couldn't contact you

Bah since you weren't there, I unleashed my wrath on the poor PaleHorse

As you can see, the Civ community has now become more than a civ only. We can have fun on very many things. Chess, cards, Java games, Tetrinet and even Callus! I played Final fight with PH76. Really good nostalgy...

Hows the game work? I'm gonna go check out the site and I'm sure it will tell me, but a fellow civfanatics explanation is probably better.

I used to play tetris all the time. I think 550000 or so was my best score......I always started on level 15 or 16 cuz anything lower was just too slow.......

I wanna play some time......someone icq me and get me up to speed....corn?

edit: ok just checked out site and I'm kinda disappointed. It sounds like theres too much bs, (bells and whistles) and that it's not really all that much like the original tetris at all........Someone please tell me that I'm interpreting this site wrong....

Drake:

It does have some bells and whistles.

First: It's multiplayer. So your competing against other players....not just for a high score.

Second: It has special blocks. This makes the game more interactive. You can attack other players to make it more difficult, or you can get helpful block that can help get rid of lines on your screen, etc...

You can play a version of it that's called "Pure" This removes the special blocks from the game and makes it like the original.

The site isn't the best for describing the game.....it's more of a play thing. The site has contests and different features that arn't normally there.....so I'll contact you when I get home.

Well i DLed the program last night and after loading it up, it crashed my computer. Didn't have any luck with it.

So maybe I'll try it some time, but that was kinda discouraging.

You click on the server settings tab and click "Classic Multiplayer Rules", "Server Playing", then click "Start Server".

It only works on Win98 with no firewall. And the person that is trying to connect to the server will need the players IP address to connect to.

You can go to www.tetrinet.org to get a list of public servers, and their IP's/names.

Are you guys interested in the Tournment?

Notice. It's possible to create a "private" channel on a public server. You just have to type:
/join #nameoftheprivatechannel

Ok, everybody can join that, but if you put #privatedontcome, it's all right.

Hey Corn, today I went on for tetrinet on forged.net and... guess who I met? First I saw a guy named SunTzu. I couldn't believe it. When I saw his team: civfanatics, I knew it was really him. Then I lost 20 minutes trying to contact him

and tell him to join #civfanatics channel

He saw me too but didn't know how to join

Had to explain.
Ironically, there was also Lowlander (a newbie) playing there but Sun didn't even know he was a civer too. He he he, what a small world. Finally I got Sun and Lowlander quit the public channel and join our "private" one. Kira was also in. Imagine, 4 civers playing tetrinet. It was great. Right Sun?
Anyway, I'll be in for your next game Sun! Looking forward to teach you a lesson

Well Sun'ny....
I admit you have gotten much better.....but I'm still the master!!! MUAHAHHHAHAHHAHHAHAH!!!!

In our best out of 10 games I lead 4 to 3. But Sun has put up an awesome fight!! In the 8th game my computer restarted.

So will have to finish the last 3 games later.

Anyway....we have 3 for the tournment, which is good.

Funny thing. I was playing on tetrinet.org main server last week and I lost after 20 seconds. Then I typed "horsehockey" in the console. And guess what? The server disconnected me because I was using an appropriate language. And it also said that this attempt to use obscene words would be logged! Pffff.
