In 2 turns, TFalls will have completed the Settler, then what?

In 12 turns, Regia Civitas will need another unit to control happiness. Or, we'll hire an entertainer (at great expense!) The Horse charging back and forth doesn't seem fruitful.

So, Warrior or Settler seem like the best choices.

I say build a warrior, then start a temple.

Eh I think this is what you mean dukey...

I think that we have enough units on "the fringes" to protect from barb attacks - for now. If we're going to build military units, its only for happiness control, so go for the cheap ones (warriors).

How far away are we from barb uprisings anyway? Can't be too far away. I normally build phalanx-settler combos from second settler onwards, but given that we've got quite a few units, we may be OK for now.

Summary: Start another settler, depending on happiness control for RC.

At the moment, the poll is running slightly ahead, 3 Settlers, 2 Temples. It's time to think about what a Warrior would do. It would walk right up into Regia Civitas in time to quell unhappiness. Otherwise, what will happen there?

Then another Settler, to found a city in between, and after that, found 2Whales.

I was thinking about the nature of Smash's Diabolical situation. Might it be, the AI's all have good land like ours? And we are ahead merely because of the 2 Settlers and the lucky advanced Tribe?

I think we must consider maximum growth and productivity. That would mean, Warrior to control Regia Civitas to finish the Colossus, and a Settler to build the city in between (N1) - very efficient method of boosting productivity - another city. We would then be in a position to add a road for Regia Civitas' use while it wraps up the Colossus.

If we are going to need another unit in RC before it completes the Collossus then we need to build a Warrior, otherwise a settler. Depending on the terrain we explore to the North, if the new terrain is poor then Build Gary's city but if its good then we may want to start sending settlers north from Dellham in the future.

I voted phalanx, but with the intention of sending to RC for happiness control. Why not a warrior? Eventually we'll need to defend our cities from barbs and possible AI attacks, so why not spend a little gold and get a better defender for when we will need it. The other issue for me is not to waste support shields on wimpy warriors. I never build warriors once phalanxes are available. But the biggest issue is to build a unit for happiness control in RC, so combine my vote with the ones for warriors please :)

I say build a Settler, and found the Whale City to the
SE. Then we can ping pong settlers and mil units between
them

What Regia Civitas cannot do for itself, Thunderfalls must: build a warrior or phalanx. Then Tfalls may resume life as a normal, irresponsible town.

This is a tight poll. 5 for Settlers, 5 for Warrior+Phalanx, still 2 for Temple. If Settlers wins, what can we do to control unhappiness as RC finishes the Colossus? Will it be a problem (I think so)? If Settlers do not win, we'll have a quick runoff poll between Warriors and Phalanx. We have very good arguments for either unit. Citizens, I salute you all!

Please vote tonight. Civ1-Addict, are the exploration polls adequate to play a couple turns? Duke, how long between Presidential moves? Frequent short turns are fun.

We usually have some turns on a Friday and some on a Tuesday, depending on what the President or Vice President is doing that week.

I will put my hands in the air, admit I was wrong and screw up the poll for everyone else ;). I voted settler, but now accept that this was the wrong choice because the city will probably not grow in time and now want to change my mind and get a warrior across to RC as soon as possible. I don't understand why you want a phalanx those three of you who have voted for it, as we already have one in RC and if that is defeated by enemy troops then I shan't hold out much hope for the chances of another. They will all be upgraded to riflemen eventually anyway so with the warrior we get a 10 shield rifleman instead of a 20 shield one with the phalanx. After warrior, then a settler is the best option, as the city will have had time to grow again, and the new city will be founded by then so we can grow and produce even quicker. :goodjob:
I see that a phalanx is necessary in Dellham, but in the heart of our empire over here then we we have units to cover in case of trouble.

RC should be our least likely city to be attacked as well because of how the land is shaped. Duke's comments have finally convinced me that a warrior would be best.

The next turn will probably be on saturday morning.
Today is too early: not all discussions have been finished I think and tomorrow I'll be gone all day and when I get back I'll be drunk so it won't be a good idea to play then. ;)

With duke's change of vote there are 4 votes for settler and 4 for warrior. There have been 3 votes for phalanx so the majority is in favour of a unit so if this result stands I'll start building a warrior.

Another thing, it was mentioned we need a phalanx in Dellham, now it is building a settler however. Do we want to change that or was it meant that the phalanx should be build after settlers?

I had not realized when I voted that RC already had a phalanx, so change my vote from Phalanx to Warrior, which it sounds like we're going to do anyway. I'm always happy vote for the winning choice when it becomes clear who's winning
