I’m sorry for asking this because I know the answer is on this site somewhere, but I can’t find a good answer even when searching.

On the setup screen for a new game there is a box that says “Enter Seed” and you can type a number in. What is this and what is the numbers representing?

If you want to play a specific map, it will have a seed, or a number that identifies it. Enter the seed number there along with the same settings as that map and you'll get that map. You can find the seed using a utility called SeedBeast, which can be found in the Utility Programs forum. Unless you want to play on the same map as a game you've seen or wanted to play with the same start but as a different civ/difficulty, you can ignore it.

Thanks viper275, I had no idea what it was and if I needed to enter something in the space. Just started playing this game as you can tell.

The game is asking for which one of 123395347352125440 maps it wants you to play (see the forum called: How many maps are there?)

I wonder how many, in the three or so years Civ 3 has been out, of those 123395347352125440 maps have been played by all Civ 3 players in the world?

I've always hoped to see a map I recognize being played by someone on the SG forum here, but the odds are virtually zero.

I'm thinking of starting a SG... you want to give me a seed? ;)

If I can find my six-cow Byzantines start that I won on Sid, I'll send it your way ;)

@Elmarae: The seed is 43725630. Pangaea, 80% water, Cool, Arid, 5 billion years. That's a good start!
