The Game of Houses - Term 5

Goonie, gunning, though I know you really want these troops to be raised, I must announce that the conflicts ruleset is hereby terminated. The Fanatikan government has nationalized all private troops.

As such, I am now out of a job. Anyone need some help?

We have Nationalism, I knew I should have oped in way earlyer in the beguining.

Does that mean we can no longer fight each other? If this is the case, we should change it so that we can still fight each other :)!

I just joined to RPG and I want CARNAGE!!!

Well, if you want carnage, you can pick up my rifle at Grandmaster's store and attempt to rescue me and Padma from the vampires in the religions thread.

Good luck.

P.S. Don't forget to bring garlic.

@shabba: hmmm. i wonder how you 2 get those messages out of my secret cookie factory....

anyways, what about if we allow private buying of troops, as well as fighting each other, but no the capturing of land?

also noble titles as well as land ownership and buildings should not add to the troop-points any more, only money should enable you to buy troops...

we could then use troops to fight civil wars or to protect important buildings... for example...

Just as long as they don't decide to bomb the Military HQ *cough* Trader/Warrior *cough*

The other thing I thought of was to allow governors to buy units to form a National Guard type thing.... and then use them to launch civil wars. Regional militias like in the American Revolution would be more accurate, I suppose.

I like regional militias, although that is before the concept of nationalism in RL. I was thinking, we could have regiments organized along British lines (atleast for WW2), where soldiers from the same general area formed a regiment, so there was a Warwickshire Regiment, Yorkshire Regiment etc. Another alternative is mercenary fighting, so we could have pre-formed regiments of troops for hire and lords could bid on them.

A way to reward combat is by capturing buildings of importance like dis said. Each building would be worth a certain amount of gold, which lords could then use to raise more troops. To balance this out, there could be a higher income for people with smaller armies.

the idea of provincial troops seems good to me. the governor could try to raise money from the citizens of the province.
then he could buy provincial troops...
the area a troops passes could be passed over to the province (for rpg-purposes like land-income etc., not for dg-purposes like build queues). but i dont know whether this could interfere with the dg.
