What would human history look like on a Civ map, what would all the special events play out as...why did Babylon become destroyed, since 9/10 games I have played they are my biggest revivals. What would the emperies of the world look like and finally how would today’s situation look like...P.S I can almost hear the modern era music...;)

post your thoughts. :)

Isn't this a duplicate thread, I thought I posted on a thread exactly like this last week.

Um, Hamatic Babylon, in our world Babylon isn't quite destroyed. It's now called Iraq. The nation of Iraq kind of considers itself the continuation of the civilization of Babylon. Even Saddam wrote his name on an ancient wall that contained names of the kingdom's old leaders.

Saddam was also :crazyeye:

Well, not really. Today's Iraqis are certainly culturally differnet from ancient babylonians, they are probablly physically different as well. There is no connection between them other than that they occupy the same piece of land.

I fear the Babylonians on Earth 1.00 suffered from floodplain disease and were part of a succession game, and a chieftain level player must have taken over at some point in time.

I guess the Sid-level players have all passed up their turns.

awww, i want some babylonians

I don't know about babylonians, but you can always get some persians from Iran!

Ancient Babylon was conquered by the Assyrians, who were themselves conquered by the Persians, who were conquered by Alexander the Great, then his empire split after his death under three top Generals (one of which was an ancestor of Cleopatra, she was a Ptolemy and Greek), and Mesopotamia became known as the "Seleucid Persians" who declined and became the Parthians....and then ROme came...etc etc. It's all on the Web, of course... ;)

Persia wasn't destroyed by Alexander though. If my memory serves me, it's destroyed by the spreading Muslims, who turned it into part of the Arab empire.

The EARLY Persians (under Darius, the Persians that warred with Greece, with Marathon, Salamis and Persian King Xerxes) were conquered by Alexander. There have been MANY "Persian Empires" -Selucids, Parthians, Sassanids, etc - but the FIRST Persian Empire was conquered by the Macedonians.

i dont get it.. do they jus decide they are another civ? such like if hitler won there would be hell of a lot more germans?

Different tribes and peoples living in Persia called themselves Persians. Basically if they occupied the area of the first Persians they tended to call themselves "Persians" even if they were ethnically Arab or Greek.

America is leading in score and power by quite a bit, they are closer to a culture win than diplomatic or military. Space race? Please! We haven't got to Mars yet.

But looking closer at culture victories... America does not have any ancient cities with good culture, (any ancient cities at all? Remember, captured Iroquois culture doesn't count! Besides, they pretty much razed and replaced.) so a 20K culture win is pretty much out of the window.

What about 100K? America will need to double the culture of the closest rival. I'd say they haven't reached that point yet, but they are gaining.

The most important thing though, is that this game won't be over in the year 2050 (otherwise why am I bothering with retirement savings :p )

I don't think US can win a cultural victory by 2050. But that remains to be seen. Military victory is also tough for the US, as there are emerging military powers that can potentially challenge the US, including the EU and China.
