Get Firefox...

Actually, if you must use IE, the biggest blunder is using a pop-up blocker for it.

Pop-up blockers require IE to allow BHO's..... once BHO's are allowed, so too are hijackers, toolbars etc....

Firefox has a built in pop-up blocker, but it isn't the best. Still it works pretty good.
