unable to load a mod

I have been wanting to try out some of the mods for civ 4 like rhyse of mankind and I can manage to download it alright, but when I go to play it the game closes and says that I cannot have multiple instances of this program running and I am not sure how to fix this. Any help about this matter would be helpful.
