A long while back, I requested a unit and eventually decided to give it a shot myself.

Well, I am proud to be able to post my first unit preview... especially since it took me a good 6 months to build the 3D model. Anyway, it's done and I also exported the frames for the storyboard. We'll see how long it'll take me to clear the next hurdle.

Unit information: The IAe-63 Pampa is used by the Fuerza Aerea Argentina primarily as a trainer, but the aircraft has pretty good ground support/ground attack capabilities.

Max Range 1,853 km / 1,151 miles
Dimensions: span 9.686 m / 31 ft 9.3 in
length 10.93 m / 35 ft 10.25 in
height 4.29 m / 14 ft 1 in
Weight: empty 2,821 kg / 6,219 lb
maximum take-off 5,000 kg / 11,023 lb)
Powerplant: one 1588-kg (3,500-lb) dry thrust Garrett TFE731-2-2N turbofan

What program are you making it with?
Looks good so far, but Jorde is right. There is detail that will not show up at civ scale, and there is no civ specific color yet.

I used AutoCAD to make the 3D model.

As far as the details are concerned: yeah, but that's OK. These details aren't what took me so long. They were fun to do and I did them just for the heck of it. Now, civ-color: Not necessary, since it's for on civ only (Argentina). But it's possible to make the insignia and the flag civ-color.

This is a lie. Civ Coloring is essential, even on what some would concider Unique Units. Civ Color allows it to have a greater range of function by us Mod Makers.

This is also a Lie: Goldflash is not the Greatest Pirate Captian Ever.

That looks awesome

If you need any pointers on the postproduciton aspects, feel free to PM me (or ask here;)) :)

Good luck with the unit. Glad to see another unit creator making the game fun. And even though this is a CIV specific unit, I think it would be a better unit with civ coloring. (just my opinion). If you want the insignia to show at all (civ colored or not) they are going to have to be quite a bit larger.
Some design liberties have to be taken to make units in order to get them to work correctly within the game.

Have you got lined up how you plan to animate this unit?

@GF: You're a pirate chaplain?

CAPTIAN. PIRATE CAPTIAN.

Not Chaplian.

Your texture maps looks very sharp, may I suggest bluring the lines between the colors? If you use Photoshop, a slight motion blur would do it.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I think, I'll eventually make two versions, one with and one without Civ-color. As far as the crisp texture goes.. yeah I need to soften it a bit.
