Second Emperor win.
The whole game was a big struggle, because
of the terrain (lots of jungle and marsh).
Monarch level is a lot more fun.Didn't even
have a Golden Age as the Germans.
The victory was a narrow escape.

Why did Gandhi switch?

A lot of wars were going on.I was at peace with everyone.
A few turns before the second voting round the Incas declared war
on the Indians and one turn later England declared also war on India.
(Both civs have the purple colour and are on the same continent.)

If I may say so myself, you need 2 or 3 times the number of workers you currently have. All that jungle in city radii should be gone by the modern ages... it'll help you out a lot. :)

You may.Looking back,it was the worst mistake I made in the game.
Not having a late medieval/early industrial GA and missing the ToE were
also mistakes.Had to choose between Smith or Newton, but did get the
Hoover Dam.

:goodjob: In my last diplomatic win, I was playing as France. I dominated the game from the middle ages on, so by the time I got into the industrial age, I made a habit of sending everyone but the biggest power (besides myself) free luxuries and granted free gold to all of them on a regular basis.(I was making so much of it and had so little to do, I figured it couldn't hurt). By the time the modern age got here, everyone was so gracious that I got fifteen out of sixteen votes. :D

15 out of 16 votes, that must have been a peaceful game.

Some votes are clear.
Everyone was at war with the Dutch, except me.
It's handy to know city names belonging to a specific
civ,so you know if there were ancient and medieval wars.
Mongols and Russia wouldn't vote for England.
England had 2 MA,so 2 votes for them.
Arabia was the unknown factor.

Why on earth are your citys protected by AC and archers in the modern age?!
Because the AI won't reach them in one turn.

But you were awarded with quick access to (at least) two luxuries and a lot of strategic resources (as far as I can tell) :)

All the gold/income came from the resources, especially oil (3 of 6).
India and Inca were the tech leaders.

By the way the voting could be more clear.
Lizzy demanded Computers and I refused, she didn't declare war.

Did you take a good look at those jungle cities?
(There weren't horses, saltpeter, rubber and uranium on the island.)

She was polite and stayed polite.

:) I saw 2 iron, coal and aluminium + luxuries. You even had the chance to build Iron Works! Compared to what I usually get this is quite good...
And I couldn't see the rest of your land of course ;)
