Hey. I'ts been a while since I've been on. Lots of RL stuff, more or less needed a lot of sleep. Last time I was here said I was working on a scenario of my own, and that's gone over like a lead balloon, but I recently played the Gallic Wars scenario and that was awesome in so many many ways, and given me some decent ideas.

Problem is, I want to do not a TOT port but a reimagining of scenario. Getting a map was not hard, the problem is map work is TEDIOUS. In my case, the map is kinda set but I need to make a LOT of manual adjustments, build the world improvements (roads, irrigation) by hand but I also need to load TOT, work on a tiny thing, then exit out of TOT and reboot the MGE load the version there and copy and paste.

Is there ANY WAY to have MGE and TOT and/or Map.exe open at the same time? It would make my life SO much easier. That way I can get coordinates in real-time and with minimal fuss.

I'm also having issues with changing terrain via the cheat menu. Every time you need to go through TWO menus to change the terrain. If there was a way to hotkey a specific terrain type, and I think in MGE you could use just Shift+F8 instead of ctrl+shift+f8 to copy a square improvement template once you set it, but I've not been able to get that work on my laptop. Now in my old XP running laptop I could but everything I press shiftf8 the laptop beeps at me and I have no idea why the hell it does that., and that could be the culprit if I knew what it was.

Also, I have no artistic talent whatsoever so I can't make any art assets, and all the assets for the original are good but they are too small for TOT spaces and you can REALLY see that in-game.

Any tips tricks or workarounds would be appreciated ESPECIALLY a way have paralell operations of TOT and MGE running at the same time.

Well, in TOTPP you can use hot keys for terrain changes (1, 2, 3, 4 and so on), as well as for terrain improvements, which would speed things up tremendously for you. Not sure if there's a way to get the two games loaded up at the same time though, sorry.

A solution with the two games loaded up at the same time could be the use of virtual machine.
It allows you to multiply environments to run civ2.

Hey, thank you. Would you happen to have any videos to link to? I don't want to accidentally download something that's going to give my laptop the electronic coof or send all my personal info to a CCP database.

1. I uses as solution Oracle VM VirtualBox, which is first solution to solve compatibility issues with both 64architectures, present and futur operating systems or parallel (eg nux) ones :

temp.png

It allows you yo create virtual machines in very intuitive and easy way for free.
https://www.virtualbox.org/
Just DL the one for your operating system then install it, then launch it and create machines.

2. You have to install the operating system on these machines, which isn't that hard :
In my situation, my old Xp cd didn't allow to boot on, I then used an ISO of Xpsp3 32bit found here with limited registration
https://lecrabeinfo.net/telecharger-les-iso-de-windows-xp-home-pro-et-64-bits.html
Guess you need a "EOM" Key to install it, in my case my 4 legit Xp Key weren't usable. No worry, Such a key can be found on the net freely. Can help about if needed, it holds no importance.

3. Once Xp is installed, You shall add via OracleVM a folder to exchange files from your real machine to the virtual one (eg temp.png , F://PartageWinXp in real machine is shared with Z:// in virtual machine)

4. Put the latest 7Zip setup in this share space, then install it on your virtual machine. The Idea is to avoid configuring connexion to the net (which is not that easy yet not hard either), as to create a closed space (destroyable if needed on security mean)
You'll need it for Civ2s' dl anyway :)

5. You XP installed will want activation, (I'll save you time here) which cannot be achieved with the vitual machine !
On the link before (with ISO Xp Pro file), you'll find a patch that will resolve this issue. To unzip and launch in the virtual machine ONLY (security purpose)
https://lecrabeinfo.net/telecharger...p-home-pro-et-64-bits.html#patchs-dactivation

6.
You may install then Civ2 MGE, ToT, their patch and ultimately ToTPP !

I also installed Civ2 16bit in a DosBox ... thought it's kinda outdated by its more recent MGE or ToT. In some way simplier, in other harder.

//To take care of, as said somewhere else, one noticed ToTPP and ToTvanilla had with Xp32bit to be set in Win2000Compatibility fot ToTPP to work !
