What to do about China?

China agreed to a military alliance with Iroquois against us last turn. Here we should discuss our choices in the matter. I started a poll to see if we should pursue an aggressive campaign against China here:
Should we pursue an agressive campaign against China?

Please review all the options carefully. China has a MPP with the Zulu and if we make any attacks on Chinese land, Zulu will declare war on us. If we keep to the defensive and only defend/attack their units on our territory, Zulu will stay out (via MPP).

Perhaps we could defend until the MPP is over?
Perhaps we should draw a MPP or alliance with Zulu to fight on our side (20 turns would be the agreed duration though).
Perhaps we should attack China and let the Zulu attempt to take us on as well?
Do we have enough resources to fight Iroquois, China, and/or the Zulu.
Zulu also has a MPP with Rome, so if they declare war on us, any attack we make on Zulu territory would bring Rome in against us.

Discuss....
 
Shoot 'em if they enter our territory. Try to make peace. Plant a spy. Otherwise ignore them.
 
China is a small country. Just let them come and try to attack. They do not have the technology to stand up against our Mech. Infantry. I would advocate planting a spy, though.
 
i say attack china - they have plagued our fragile world long enough - we must smite them
 
I advocate sitting back. My only concern is if they see our non-agressive stance as a weakness and will not negotiate a peace deal. I think they are so weak they will, but I'm not sure how they will take it. However, we may be so lucky that the MPP will end and we can proceed without worry of MPPs setting off.
 
I say we send an "army" of maybe 5 mech infantry and 5 tanks into their lands to do as much damage as possible. Maybe even take a couple cities. This force will keep them occupied and make a more favorable peace deal possible. I'll even offer to lead them. I have always wanted to see China...:D

We cannot just go to war with the Zulus and The Romans. China might back off, when we are done with the Iroqs. They might not want a war without Iroq help. Otherwise, we might not have a choice.
 
I suggest we attend to the Iroquois First. Take what we want from the Iroquois (all cities up to Salamaca), and then make preperations for War with China if they don't back down. Such preperations would include making sure all MPP's they have are nullified before we launch an offensive... this could be done by an alliance with the Zulus. While it should be a simple matter to rid ourselves of the mainland chinese, any Chinese Islands (and I'm sure they have them) would be a much more time consuming matter to capture unless we start launching an invasion force now to those Islands. This Island would likely be the one thing that would require us to maintain the 20 turn war, if we can't capture them quickly enough.
 
I just researched into the Island matter I mentioned. And, while they used to have them it seems like they've been taken by the Iroqouis and the Indians, so I have a feeling our obligation will only be as long as it takes to eliminate the Chinese. However, there is the rep hit elimination would cause.

If we aren't going for diplomacy then it would be fine. I do not know if we are going for it.

I double-checked it too (perhaps I should have earlier) and you are right, of course. I'm not aware of rep hits upon civ elimination but maybe that too. In any case, I'm not deeply concerned about it - our favoured nation list seems to keep shrinking.
 
Also remember that if we get an MPP with the Zulus, the Zulus will attack the Iro. to honor the pact. Rome could follow if the Iro. managed to even bombard the Zulus. We do have to watch were India and Babylon turn too. If Babylon declares war against us, we could always fill out the rest of Scythia and sue for peace. :) We should only ask India to join in once the cities in the Salamanca region are taken. India only has to take 6 cities, plus the island cities (eliminating the Iro.), and we won't have to worry about culture flipping.
 
Well to prevent a war between the Zulus and the Iro. we could just get a Military Alliance. Such an Alliance would just start a war between the Zulus and the Chinese, and Iro.'s Counter attack wouldn't initiate any MPP.

I'm not apposed to having the indians take the Rest of Iro. Land to prevent flips. I'd just rather have that land to ourselves if it's gonna be taken. At least we could speed it up by continuing an offensive and letting the Indians get what they can reach before we can get there.
 
The Foreign Affairs Department is surprised at China's courage (though it looks more like foolishness) in agreeing with the weak Iroquois on a war against us. However, this is a time of war, and FA is pulling back our ambassadors in China and recommends to all citizens who are in China on visitation to return home immediately. FA can not guarantee this war will always progress non-aggressively.
