Wide Screen Support?

Is there anyway For Alpha Centauri to have wide screen? Im trying to run it in 1680 x 1050. I try editing the ini file but nothing.

Widescreen gaming forum says "virtually unplayable". The menu's would not work on widescreen resolutions. See here. Note that Alien Crossfire is reported to work fine; I'm referring to SMAC.

Edit: But I don't think I'll completely agree with them. The start menu is annoying, but can be overcome and, if I remember correctly, in-game menus can be drawn to a place where you can actually read them. You can try that out; I'm interested to hear the result!

I have SMACX Running on my widescreen (1680x1050), it doesn't expand the interfaace box however

Pretty sure all I had to do was disable DirectDraw in the .ini

DirectDraw=0
