Windows version on Steam

After much banging of head on wall, I was able to get the Aspyr version of Civ 5 running on Linux. In order for the menu elements to line up, I have to run Linux scaling at 200%, which is awkward outside of the game. Meanwhile, in the game, any time I say return to main menu or load a save, it crashes instead, failing to save any in game settings I changed. I can load from the main menu just fine.

Because of these things, I'd like to try running the Windows version via Steam + Proton. I've already done so successfully. The problem is, that I'm dependent on the Enhanced User Interface mod, which requires a manual install. So I would need to know where the equivalent of these paths would be as far as Proton in Linux (Mint 22.2 if it matters) is concerned:

\Steam\SteamApps\common\sid meier's civilization v\assets\DLC or
<user path>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Text

Thank you for your time and any help you can offer!

Okay, I've added some effort and wanted to report my findings...

I was able to find

/home/dushku/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/8930/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps

However, in that folder, I had to create the following folders:

.../common/Sid Meier's Civilization V/Assets/DLC

That is the path where I am to put the mod's folder. As you can probably guess by the fact that I had to create those folders, the game isn't looking there and therefore, is not loading the mod.

I've heard that running the Windows version on Linux precludes us from using this mod. Likely after years of many much smarter than me folks having a go at it. So I'm unsure what can even be done at this point.

Do you think it would help to bring this up to Valve to try and figure out why it's not behaving as the Windows version truly would?

I was able to get things working. I put all the text files into compatdata, but had to put the actual EUI folder into where the actual game was.

It worked, but unprovoked crashes are pretty regularly occurring. I wonder if this is because the laptop has nVidia graphics. Might end up resorting to a virtual Windows machine in Linux if I cannot solve the regular crashes.
