I am really lucky to be running the v1.00 game without any "game" issues. I've got a Ti4200/128meg card, XP2600, and a gig of memory. I've been playing "normal" map single-player games to completion.
However, XP has been acting-up ever since Civ4 was loaded. Frequently the OS doesn't load; on other occasions I can't get past the XP splash screen. I've had to load safe mode and restart to get all the way to the desktop.
I have not been clearing the hidden cache files between games.
I'm considering the Harkonnen patch, but am leery of the 1.09 given all the additional problems it seems to cause.
Any relevant feedback would be appreciated. This game is providing much enjoyment, but the horror stories from people with far more capable hardware have me thinking it's a bad idea to build a new box that won't play this game.
